Emily Hines an American painter and illustrator, who at twenty-four was the youngest artist taking part in building the "Liberation Marker 45". Having recently earned her BFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art, she has since worked to develop a practice which attempts to humanize by exposing harmful and subtle ideologies through the vulnerability of self analysis.
Participation in the Liberation Project enabled Hines an extended period in which to linger about the crash sites in the town of Pöllau from which she sourced her visual response. Hines hopes to pursue a Fulbright related to her experiences with the project and is interested in the capacity for healing and reconciliation to be generated through the anticipatory and un-repressed nature of contemporary art.
